Karl Page

MSc, BSc (Hons)

I chose to pursue a career in the fitness industry due to my life long enthusiasm for physical performance, health, nutrition and improving quality of life. After 12 months of entering the industry I was extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to work as the assistant strength & conditoning coach to a professional rugby league club's scholarship programme. It was this opportunity that lead me to practise and study the role of coaching professional athletes. Almost 5 years on and I was give the role of leading the programme as Head of Athletic Development at the same club. I held this role as well as operating out of my own facility, Cheshire Barbell where I coach a number of athletes across different sports, members of the general public and provide athletic development sessions to a variety of youth teams and young individuals. Even more recently, I have completed a Master of Science Degree in Strength & Conditioning and was awarded a Distinction.

I have an enormous passion for helping people develop in their particular field, sport or hobby. I thoroughly enjoy teaching others and have years of experience within recreational and professional sports. Nothing is more rewarding to me than witnessing an individual develop. As I am sure you can tell by my images, as well as video footage of my own training, I like to practise what I preach. At the same time, just like you, I am human and can also relate to your struggles and "life's little stresses"  that you experience from time to time. It is for these reasons that I like to think of myself as being more than capable of helping you achieve your potential no matter what the goal or hurdles getting there.

My ultimate interest lies in the art of developing sports performance. I am currently actively competing in Olympic Weightlifting

competitions around the UK and get a huge buzz out of guiding people in a similar direction. Whilst sub 8% body fat isn't necessarily optimal for Olympic Weightlifting, I do ensure that I 'stay in shape' by simply applying the same principles to my own training and nutrition that I expect of my clients. I think that it is essential for me to show those working with me that it is possible to achieve, even when life can get in the way some times.

Outside of work, my ultimate hobby lies with most things outdoors. More specifically, I try to get away to Snowdonia national park, the Lake District, various location in Scotland to take part in trad/rock climbing, winter climbing, scrambling, trekking, and wild camping. I am currently a qualified Mountain Leader and aspire to achieve my SPA so that I am able to take the members of Cheshire Barbell out on regular expeditions and give people the opportunity to experience something

completely new. Although somewhat

controversial due to my passion for the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, I'm a real believer that there is more to 'fitness' than just lifting weights. I thoroughly enjoy coaching and taking part in most forms of activity that helps develop both physical and psychological health, particularly if I can help raise money for a charity in the process!
