Why should I hire a coach?


Coaching is one of those things that a lot of people aren't sure about. Although most of the world's most successful people – from athletes to business people – have coaches to accelerate their success, you might still wonder how relevant a coach would be to your everyday life.


What do we actually do, and how can we help you achieve your health, performance or physique goals?


If you've found your way here then you're obviously curious, at least, so here are 10 reasons why you need to hire a coach, and why working with us will transform your life.



1.     To help you find direction:


If you feel lost and directionless, you're not alone. Many people drift through gym sessions without much of a plan, not really knowing where they're heading. We can change all of that by helping you really focus and figure out your true goals and aspirations.


Perhaps you're 'spinning wheels' because you're focusing on the right goals at the wrong time. Maybe you're focusing on too many things at once. You may not even have a goal and are attending the gym/sessions without any purpose.


Once we've helped you establish your ultimate goal, working with us is the ideal way to plan out the small, manageable steps you need to take so you don't feel overwhelmed by the scale of the journey.


Everyone wants to achieve their goals straight away and unfortunately that is never achievable. If you don’t hit your own personal targets you may be discouraged and actually regress.


We will not only help you set realistic goals that you will be able to achieve but will also be able to keep you on track to hit those goals.


Every 8-12 weeks we sit our members down and have a 1:1 chat in order to discuss goals. We listen to their needs, preferences and aspirations and help them understand what is possible, the time frame and exactly what needs to be done. This exercise is not only motivating, but helps us develop a connection with each individual so that we're 'singing of the same hymn sheet'.


2.     To help you reach your potential:


Perhaps you're plodding along just fine but not really hitting the targets you thought possible. Maybe you're not achieving what you know you're capable of. Hiring us can help you get serious about the success you deserve to have, and motivate you to step it up a level to reach your true potential.


Everybody is different, and that means everyone’s abilities and requirements are different when it comes to training and nutrition. This could be anything from having an old injury that requires special exercises, to having a phobia that may impact on where or how you workout.


For example, if you have an old knee injury that required surgery, but since then you haven’t done anything to rebuild strength of the joint or improve stability, then you are going to need different exercises and targets compared with an athlete who is training to run a marathon. This is where our experience can make a huge difference to your training program.

Once you've worked out what you want and need from your journey, we are there to help you get clear about your specific goals and keep you focused on what's really important. It's easy to feel daunted by goals that feel too big and out of reach, or to be put off by mundane distractions, but we will help you break everything down and get focused on each individual step along your journey.


There are always going to be some exercises that you enjoy more than others, beyond simple capability. We will be able to tailor your training plan to suit you and what you enjoy, as well as encourage you to do the exercises that are best to achieve your goals.


At the same time, the exercises you avoid (because you dislike them or do not know they exist) may be exactly the thing you need. We will design a programme that is specific to your goals. It'll include the exact exercises you need, regardless of whether you enjoy them or not.


4.     To make you accountable for your actions:


If you already know roughly what you need to do to achieve your goals, but you're terrible for making excuses and putting it off, we will put an end to your procrastination. When you're only answerable to yourself, it's too easy to say "I'll do it tomorrow" – and we all know tomorrow never comes! We are there to be your conscience, providing a supportive nudge in the right direction and demanding answers when you let yourself down.


How many times have you gone to bed and said to yourself, ‘Tomorrow I’m going to wake up, go to the gym, and do an hour workout before I get ready for work’, and then woken up and decided to sleep for another hour instead of exercising?


This is where being accountable to someone is critical to ensuring that you commit and stick to your goals. If you’ve made an appointment to meet us for a session, then you are far more likely to still go than if you are just telling yourself you should go to the gym.

Personally, I have spent a current total of 7 years in education within this industry, 5 of which where at university to achieve both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Strength & Conditioning. In addition to study time, I have also invested over £40,000 in my education so that I can help teach and support people just like you along your journey toward achieving your goal.


I have learnt from mistakes over the years, and continue to read to ensure my knowledge stays current and up-to-date.

Mind over matter really does count – not only in sport, but whilst at home and away from the gym. We don't do classes. Every prescription we offer is tailored to you.


We structure your training around your goal, schedule, the equipment you have access to, what you enjoy and your previous experience.


Your nutrition & supplementation plan is also adjusted to suit your preferences, day to day habits and intolerances / sensitivities. We even offer blood work to help determine your nutrient deficiencies and hormonal irregularities.


Both your training and nutrition can also be adjusted around your menstrual cycle (if applicable), and therefore we can maximise your potential at the right time whilst reducing injury risk and helping you recover sufficiently.
